In order to determine the performance of experimental fish diets it is very important to collect good quality faeces samples on a daily basis on tank level. The swirl separators available in the market were not at all meeting the requirements of the Alltech Coppens Aqua Center.

ZEBCARE custom designed a demo swirl separator demo unit based on required flow and available space, exactly fitting the experimental set-up. Constructed of sturdy PE the swirl separator has the correct shape and size to separate as much fecal matter from the water flow coming from the experimental fish tank. The fecal matter is collected in a sample flask underneath the swirl separator. This flask is, under normal operation, placed in ice to conserve the sample.

This demo swirl separator is now being thoroughly tested by the Alltech Coppens research team and the results will allow ZEBCARE to improve the design.
